Aquapak is delighted to have been named a finalist in the Edie Sustainability Leaders Awards 2020 which takes place on 5 February at the Park Plaza London Westminster. These are the UK’s largest sustainability awards which “recognise excellence across the spectrum of green business; from the best efficiency programmes through to product innovations, from stakeholder engagement and social sustainability initiatives to the people on the ground who are making change happen.”

Shortlisted in the Product Innovation category for their product, Hydropol™ a hydrophilic (water-loving) polymer that dissolves in hot or warm water to leave water, carbon dioxide and non-toxic mineralised biomass.
The award entry shared how the innovative polymer can be used on its own to replace traditional, single-use polymers or combined with other materials to create products and packaging solutions for many different industries. Being non-toxic, marine-safe as well as soluble means Aquapak’s Hydropol™ polymer is suitable for a wide range of applications – including garment bags, food waste collection bags, laundry bags, infection control bags and aprons plus pet food bags and cardboard box lamination – allowing users to maintain the primary functionality of their products whilst designing-in end-of-life recyclability, anaerobic digestion or compostability.
